About Us

It is the mission of the Globalization and Prosperity Lab to conduct rigorous analysis of globalization and its impact on prosperity and equity. At the GP-lab we take globalization as the set of economic changes with global reach, including the worldwide integration of markets, technological innovation, and the global expansion of the service economy. We investigate the origins of globalization in the worldwide division of labor and in local entrepreneurship, and we study the consequences of globalization for people and local markets.

The GP-lab provides the analytic tools to inform policy and governance. The GP-lab strives to incubate elements of a conceptual redesign of globalization that is proactive, guided by ethical principles beyond efficiency, and aims to integrate diverse insights from the social sciences and humanities. The GP-lab provides society, businesses, and policy makers, as well as the interested public, with rigorous analytic insight into globalization and its local impacts.
